A small amount that was owed to me came in cash rather than cheque form just before the weekend. I woke up on Saturday and lay in bed with absolutely zero obligations, so I decided to make something of a nothing day and go downtown. I did my usual thing, where I whittle down Aunt Wendy's Gifted Starbucks Card #58 by getting a drink, and then sitting upstairs in the coffee shop of the bookstore, writing or studying.

I found at this book store some really fantastic French reference books. I am loathe to pay $30 for any paperback, so I decided to hit the second hand bookstores instead. When it comes to used books, I can shop for and buy them without so much discretion.

For about $60, I found:
-a colour French/English dictionary with a substantial tear out French word puzzle section!!
-Dylan Thomas novel "Adventures in the Skin Trade"
-Cash by Johnny Cash
-The Rebel Sell, yeah I'm the last No Logo fan who hasn't read it.
-Vonnegut's A Man Without a Country, hardcover
-Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions, hardcover, first edition printing!

Then I went to the snobby record store and bought some arty digi-packed albums. The kind that I should obtain eventually but I wait until money ain't a thang because I'm pretty sure at least one of those CDs was $10 less at the CD release party I was too lazy or friendless to go to..

But then in the afternoon, I realized my phone was cut off because I haven't finished paying them the couple hundred from June I racked up by using the phone in Stockholm and Helsinki to call/take calls from my mom and Brendan.. So my next cheque better be a cheque and it is going in the bank.
