1. Kitchen Window
A shine across cool glass
Reflecting the rustic wood and adobe tile
Impenetrable black of night outside
Like the bottom of the ocean
I wonder what lies beyond the light
2. Poinsettias
Red blooms from crimson center to blood red tip
Starkly contrasting with gray cracked stone
Poignant stars of life slowly turn burgandy and brown
Death smothering them before the season of rebirth
3. Puddles
Shallow pools of water burst and still
Tiny spheres of wet
The ground darkened to reflect the sky
Copper shimmers at the bottom
A coin or an ember waiting for the rain to end
