My Favorite Parts about Flying

Many people I know dislike flying. It is a true test in patience, which many people lack. After working in the public transportation field for a time I got educated in patience. Not only that; I'm GOOD at flying.

My two favorite parts to flying:

1: Going through security-I love this because I've gotten to the point where I know exactly what to do and what not to do to go speedily through (or not so much) security.

Tips to go through quickly:
  • Wear sandals/slip-ons, slippers, flip-flops. You know you gotta take shoes/sneakers/boots off and tying and untying takes time.
  • Don't have a ton of shit in your pockets. Put your keys, loose change, cell phone, i-pod etc in your carry on (you know you got one). Only thing you need is your id/passport/boarding pass.
  • Don't wear a belt or take it off before reaching security. They're gonna tell you to take it off any way because it likely has metal in it. If you don't have a ton of shit in your pants (see above) you probably don't need a belt unless you're a Wankster. In which case, buy baggy pants that fit at the waist, idiot.
  • Don't layer shit in the bins.
  • Take your laptop or CPAP out of it's case and put it in their own bin.
  • Don't pack any liquids and/or creams in tubes/containers greater than 3oz. and be sure they're marked 3oz and in their own 1 qt. plastic bag. Honestly bring a bar of multipurpose soap like Cal-Ben Soap and you'll be all set. Buy the rest of your shit where ever you get where you're going.
  • If packing a whole bunch of electronic shit (cell phone charger, video game stuff, digital camera stuff) take all corded things (chargers etc), wrap them neatly and individually and place them in plastic bags towards the front and top of your carry-on. Pell mell wires buried under clothes and shit arises suspicion.
  • Be cooperative. You've lost more rights than you're aware of over the years already so shut up and get searched for the greater good.

2: Take off and landing- Wheee! The only HUMAN controlled part of flying. I love being able to tell just when the pilot will rotate the landing gear up into the plane.
