I wrote this before and then lost it. You know how that feels. Now it's been a couple of months and I must record this somehow. The only way to face it is by doing it a little at a time.
Two transfers before Kenny came home, he was made an assistant to the president. He had no idea at the time what an amazing time this was to be in leadership in his mission.
At the time, there were only a handful of cases of Ebola in Sierra Leone. Of course, everyone was very concerned. But it seemed that everything was being handled safely. The mission president put special protocols in place. These were checked by the world health organization. They told the mission president that their protocols would keep the missionaries safe
One of the areas, Kenema, had a few more people come down with the dreaded disease. Even though they felt their precautions were enough, the mission president decided to take the missionaries out of that zone to alleviate concerns So Kenny and his companion Elder Dillon Hales had the job of hiring a bus, going to Kenema, and taking all the missionaries out of that zone. At the time they thought they'd be able to go back soon, but it was just the beginning of the troubles.
