As I've told my closest friends a billion times, something bad always happens on my birthday. This year, it pretty much started out the way I wanted it to. I was surrounded by my closest friends and had a wonderful time with them. During the day, though, my family's mood swings were getting to me. I felt pretty down about it, but I was cheered up when, as I was on the phone and watching re-runs of something-or-other, my long-lost best friend barged into my room. Madge and I were both in our ballet tights and cover-ups and we hugged for 9129191 minutes.
My later celebrations were definitely worthwhile. Dinner at the Mandarin with my family, and then I treated my girls out to 10293521 drinks at Piedra and Bollywood. We had a great time being around each other, laughing and dancing, and I truly appreciate the time they took out of their busy schedules to celebrate my better-than-I'd-expected 17th birthday.
Many heart-wrenching surprises awaited me on both the 22nd and the 23rd, so...
