I've read American Gods far too many times, wishing that I could feel Bast's fur between my fingers, sobbing at Bilquis' death, and laughing at the mad flight flight of Horus in the morning air.
I believe that I have quoted this novel before, but I shall do it again.
"Religions are, by definition, metaphors, after all: God is a dream, a hope, a woman, an ironist, a father, a city, a house of many rooms, a watchmaker who left his prize chronometer in the desert, someone who loves you--even, perhaps, against all evidence, a celestial being whose only interest is to make sure your football team, army, business, or marriage thrives, prospers, and triumphs over all opposition."
1 hour to go before I wake Donnie up to his new world of 3rd shift living. I hope this doesn't take too much out of him or I.
