Long and mostly stressful day:
At 8:30 AM my building's superintendant came by to "inspect" my apartment -- He told me a couple of days ago that somone had been complaining of a "bad smell" in the hallway of my floor, and he wanted/needed to make sure my apartment wasn't the source of the odor. I did thoroughtly clean and freshen my apartment yesterday to make 100% sure everything was fine, and I apparently passed with flying colors -- the superintendant even mentioned to me that he thinks the odor was caused by a cat, and I don't have a cat. That all being said, I'm a worrier by nature, so any visit from an "authority figure" stresses me out...
After that I went into work, and discovered that they had just instituted a new security measure on our network that morning which was causing chaos -- at least half of my fellow programmers couldn't log into the network(!) and while I didn't have that issue I did find the new security routine to be extremely annoying. But when I found out that my workplace's own security team had essentially been "locked out of the network" as a result of the new login process... well, that just floored me.
I was scheduled to have dinner this evening with my sister Kathy at an "American Bistro" restaurant, but we had to change plans at the last minute -- Kathy had some sort of bad reaction to a new set of contact lenses and had to go see an eye doctor late this afternoon to make sure she hadn't scratched her corneas... so she had to cancel the original dinner reservation. Admittedly train ride from work was so slow tonight that I don't think I would have made our dinner original seating anyway. Fortunately, the evening ended on a happy note: the eye doctor says there was no sign of injury to my sister's corneas, and Kathy and I were able to get a last-minute dinner reservation at a Moroccan restaurant near her home... and the food was delicious and the atmosphere relaxing.
