i'm finally home (yes, two days late) from my little journey. i had a fantastic time. really, really fantastic. the only unfantastic part was losing my brakes in traffic on the cross bronx expressway where there was no shoulder and waiting for about an hour and a half to get towed out of there. hence the two days late. but it was all definitely worth it, if only for the hot waitress at red lobster (dayna, if you're out there baby, back that ass up just for me. yowza.) anyway. seafood was consumed. movies were watched, many of which starred geena davis. parents were lied to. snuggles were had. you can't ask for much more than that.
the end of summer is starting to loom, and my feelings about that are definitely mixed. in a lot of ways i'm pretty gung ho about going to slc. i can't wait to meet the kids, pick my classes, join clubs, stuff like that. but i also have major issues with leaving home. for one thing, there are just a lot of things i need to do that i've been putting off, like shopping and making decisions about the stuff i want to take. somewhat more importantly, i love my friends and my family. i love my privacy (going way out the window next year) and i love being able to be lazy. i love the comfort of my current situation. i'm hoping that i'll be able to make a couple good friends fast. if slc is anything like cty, that should be no problem. the idea of being in a place and having only casual acquaintences drives me nuts. i need to have people i can hug. i like how i say basically the same stuff in every entry. i'm sure you do, too. it's what's been on my mind, i can't help it. i'm so worried about maintaining the balance of holding onto things from that past that are important to me without missing out on all of the things that the future has to offer.
i was just invited to a dinner party for tonight. my friends are so cute. it should be fun. pat's making italian! oh lordy.
