Room 308, Sunday Afternoon

Oct 05, 2008 17:21

Ella had found the DVD among the pile of electronic things on Rikku's side of the room, and the buttons she'd poked at even seemed to make it work.

She had a fresh plate of brownies (homemade) and some chips (not) at the ready, and was excited about her movie date.

[OOC: For that guy, SP warning in effect for next few hours.]

Dick - carrying some movies and popcorn - knocked on the door.

Ella checked her hair in the mirror (it was fine) and went to answer the door. "I got the DVD to work!" she bounced.

It was exciting for her.

"Good job," Dick said. "This way our movie day can actually involve movies."

"It would be a sad movie date if it didn't," Ella agreed. "We'd just sit here and stare at a piece of glass."

She considered that. "I could make you act out the movies?"

"Yeah, that wouldn't happen," Dick said, grinning. "The movies are way too long for that."

"So what would you do if we couldn't watch them?" Ella asked, almost innocently. "It'd be a bad movie date with no movies."

"The way I see it, there would have been three options. We could have just tried to find some movie on TV. Or we could have gone to the theater in town and watched whatever they were showing," Dick said. "Or we could have just taken a rain check and spent the afternoon making out."

Ella went a tiny bit pink at the last suggestion. "I can multitask," she informed him. "We can start a movie and make out."

"I'll be honest, that's kind of what I was hoping for when we arranged this," Dick said. He enjoyed making Ella blush a little like that.

"I might have sort of realized that," Ella admitted. Not very ladylike, she supposed, but true, and if he enjoyed seeing her blush he'd definitely like the look on her face as she said that.

She gestured him into the room and moved to shut the door.

"I think RIkku's gone for the weekend."

"Fortunately, I brought a lot of movies," Dick said, holding up several DVDs.

Ella sat down on the bed and looked at the DVD covers. "Which one did you want to start with?"

"Well, It's a Pleasant Existence is one of my favorites, but it's a little depressing until you get to the end and you already agreed to my ulterior motive, so no," Dick said, tossing that one off to the side. "How about Rabat? It's a classic about people in a Morroccan city during World War II. High on romance, high on drama, high on opposing Nazis. It has a little bit of everything."

"I can't be depressed and kiss at the same time," Ella agreed. "It's too contrary. Rabat sounds about perfect. Even if you are going to need to explain Nazis to me."

"Nazis were evil people who liked to take over countries and kill people until England, Russia, America, and half of the rest of the world beat them in a war," Dick said as he put the DVD in. "That's the Cliff Notes version. If you want to find out more, you can turn on The History Channel at any time, day or night, and you'll probably hear more about them."

"I think that's probably enough for me to know for now," Ella decided, settling herself a little more comfortably and reaching for a brownie. "Enough to get through a movie, anyhow."
