Room 308, Monday Night

Jul 07, 2008 20:31

Anyone walking past the door to 308 would hear discouraged-sounding mumbling coming from Ella's bed, where the girl sat with a thick text spread before her and a hand mirror by her side. She still hadn't met many --any, really-- new students; the book had given her an Ogrese primer, and she was devouring that like sweetmeats.

"MyNN uiv Ssyng, SzEE uivo Ssyng, PyNN uivo Ssyng," she recited into the mirror, watching her mouth to see if her mouth was holding the proper shape for the doubled consonants, "... I will eat, you will eat, he will eat... but then it's NNmynn PPyng uivolot for we or they alike? And I've no idea what the next word is at all."

She shook her head ruefully. She would never be able to translate Ogrese at this rate.

Her door was open.

[OOC: Open like it says. And yes, stealing from Gail Carson Levine again.]
