Ella slept late, past the time
Turtle left for work, and when she stumbled into consciousness one of the first things she did was to flip open her magic book, hoping it would give her news of Char.
She found a scrawled diary entry in his handwriting.
Ella left for her new school the morning after the wedding. I stopped by her house, hoping for her new address, but her stepsister said she'd been told not to give it out.
I hope she is not avoiding me. Perhaps she's embarrassed about sliding down the stair rail at the wedding, and blames me for encouraging her.
And now I won't see her again for at least a year.
Frowning, Ella reached for a clean sheet of paper and began working on a letter for the prince. There was
so much to tell him about this school.
[OOC: Door closed but knockable. Bits of Char's diary stolen from Gail Carson Levine.]
