Greetings!
Long absence, I know. *deep bow of shame* I will not bore everyone with explanations. Life ate my life. Leave it at that!

(I did actually forget my password this time. Actually, I had all the right letters, just in the wrong order.)
I will now post an unrelated splurb about recent fannish behavior I've been experiencing. PREPARE YOURSELF FOR FAN MODE.
I completely blame
goldenmoonrose for my recent obsession with Alice, a 2009 SyFy mini-series movie. I may have found it on my own eventually, but without her influence, I may never have been curious enough to watch it. Yes, some of the effects are rather campy, (see: zipping though trees on flying devices in a manner that reminds one rather forcibly of tree zipping Return of the Jedi moments) but I love it anyway. ( And honestly, if you're like me and The Princess Bride is among your favorite movies of ALL TIME, it's a little hard to throw the Campy Stone of Disfavor.) I love all the wonderful imagery/symbolism! The careful and brilliant costumes! And how they stuffed the 1960's into EVERYTHING! Brilliant!
Hatter and Alice sense something is not quite right.
I forced my mother to watch it with me.( It was my fourth or fifth watch by then. Yes, I went ahead and bought it on Amazon after watching it twice on Netflix. I may have even rush ordered it....possibly.) "Boy, there's a lot going on in this, isn't there?" She said, after we'd only been watching for twenty minutes. I guess we've all become so used to regular 'reality' TV (which neither of us like much) and films that when we actually watch something with layers, we're really stunned. Although, I s'pose it's a bit of a compliment to my mother, in a way. If we were truly 'story brain-dead', we would've never noticed that there WERE layers and just seen and understood the top bit.
Yes, that is a giant mushroom in the far, far distance with clouds collecting on its rim. Just in case you thought Wonderland might be like our land.
Short clip of Hatter and Alice making their way into the library. With bribes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEVDvTz5FeU&feature=related And speaking of just the top, not so deep bit, I have to say, I am now harboring a large-ish sort of girly crush on Andrew Lee Potts, who I never would have figured was my type. I've seen him in Primeval, which I watched because Netflix told me too. I kept watching it after a while because the characters of Connor (played by Potts) and Abby (Hannah Spearritt) are just so darn cute that I wanted to see more of them, and by the second season, I was completely hooked on the show itself, in spite of the absolutely horrid science, fakey creatures and random bursts of overly dramatic acting. Anyway, the point is: I had noticed him on that show, and noticed that he was cute, in a sort of awkward, adorkable way. However, for some reason, in Alice, he steps into the realm of HAUWT. Which I was unaware he was even capable of. Boy howdy. And it doesn't make sense to me, because in Alice, his character's appearance is a compilation of elements which consist of nothing I'm drawn to in real life. *begins to list them off on fingers* Hatter has scruffy facial hair, loud, bright, silky, paisley pimp clothes and eyeliner, for Pete's sake! (However, the hat is awesome. I can't hate on the hat.

) Somehow, the overall effect is very attractive, sexy and fun to watch! And, perhaps because I'm American, the accent doesn't hurt either.
(Speaking of Hatter's clothes, where on earth can I find the clear glass or acrylic wardrobe, amroire type piece of furniture that is in Hatter's living space behind the Tea Shop?! I would love to find one! I've tried several inventive and not so inventive word combinations in Google, and I just end up with a lot of regular armoires, or tons of Louis XI clear chairs. And while I like both, they aren't what I am looking for and after hours of searching, I began to hate all wardrobes and the medium of acrylic furniture as a whole.)
This is the wardrobe of which I speak of below. No idea why I suddenly became obsessed with it. *shrug* I mean, it's cool, yes. But not super tres awesome or anything. It's not like Narnia is hiding on the other side of it or something. (THAT would be cool! Narnia visits via Wonderland wardrobes that were carried through the Looking Glass! *brain explodes*)
Before you ask, yes, this show was done by the same folks that brought us the awesome Tin Man, which I actually didn't make time to watch until after I had seen Alice. And I loved it too! All the beautiful art deco, late Edwardian influence and 1930-40's stuff! There are some lovely scenes that look like they have pulled straight from a Maxfield Parish painting. (Also, did anyone else notice Wyatt Cain's pants? *almost sucked all the oxygen out of the room the first time those were sprung upon my unsuspecting self* Seriously.I was not prepared for that. Should come with a warning or something. I think I know why they covered them up with a jacket after only a few minutes of viewing. Too distracting. The rest of the cast kept missing their cues. Although the coat is nice too.

Always a sucker for a lovely, long coat. )
Really though, Tin Man is so awesome that by rights, it deserves a post all to itself. Seriously. Sadly, in my current mood, I might spend the whole time praising Cain's pants. *sad shake of the head* I'm really not this adled most of the time. I just seem to be severely effected by fangirl mode lately. *sigh*
From Tin Man.
Wyatt Cain (with no view of the glorius pants, I'm afraid), DG and Glitch.
Okay, I think I've been a silly fangirl for long enough. I need to go hunting for my escaped brain now. Take care everyone!
