Walking home today, I could smell someones home improvement project. I could hear a sander going and the unmistakable whiff of sawdust filled the air. It made me happy for some reason. *shrugs* I don't know why.
This weekend, I'm headed out with some friends to a ski resort. Madeline was sitting on my bed while I was bustling in the closet getting my suitcase.
"So, are you going to be skiing, snowboarding or sitting safely in the lodge, reading as per usual?" she asked, while inspecting her nails.
"Well, the others decided since none of them have ever been snowboarding before, we should all do that." I answered, tugging on a strap of one of my numerous bags.
"Eh?" Madeline paused in the act of lifting a nail file. "You've got that backwards, don't you?"
"No. I guess the theme of the trip is gonna be 'let's all break our necks together.'" was my somewhat sour reply, I was having a hard time un-earthing my luggage.
"But you don't know how to do either, really." she said, pointing the file at me accusingly. "And, your hopeless at sports."
I tugged on the strap again, only to be buried under a pile labeled 'summer clothes' in jaunty pink writing. "Thanks, Mad. I appreciate your support."
But she's right. I'm more of a yoga and tia bo(sp?) type person. Even aerobics I can handle. But if it's vigorous sporting adventures of any kind, I fail at life. Seriously, it's like I lose all coordination! *laughs weakly* I don't even own a ski coat or anything like that, as I discovered later in my closet searches. It's never been an issue before!
A class chum got me started on this anime called Death Note. Normally, the storyline wouldn't be my thing at all, but I'm only on episode nine and I'm hooked. It's dark, dramatic and VERY interesting; it's sort of like a reverse mystery, because you already know 'whodunit'. I doubt that there will be anything close to a happy ending, and I like happy endings.
The main character is a very smart, charismatic student with a god complex. It's both intriguing and creepy. He's just too good at what he's doing. (so far) And the investigator is a mysterious figure never seen by anyone, who ends up being a pale, slouching young genius with serious bed-head and 'insomnia eye shadow'. I'm having a hard time decided who to cheer for!
Have a wonderful V-Day tomorrow! Kiss someone you love, kiss a friend, kiss a stranger...........um, well you don't have to, really.
Take Care!
