Catch up!

HI INTERNETS! I've been away, and how I've missed you!

I have SO much to catch up on. I have SO MUCH to catch you up on. But, I know that even though I say I will catch up all the time, I'll probably never will. But I can pretend, right?

First, remember my 2 month job assignment in middle-of-nowhere Manitoba? Well, it finished on December 22nd. That didn't really give me much time to prepare for the holidays. Hence the reason why the cards I bought are still sitting in my kitchen. Next year, I swear! But to the people that did send me Christmas cards, I thank you very much! It was very exciting to get Christmas cards the first year in our new home. The husband got quite a lot of enjoyment out of getting a Christmas card out of Israel. Thanks Elle! And everyone else. All the cards were awesome.

Speaking of holidays, it's Ukrainian Christmas today. So, Сhrystos Rozhdayetsya. (You reply Slavite Yoho.) It's also my husband's birthday, and somehow (I'm still not sure how) I convinced him that for his birthday we were going to go out for dinner, and then to the local professional theatre company's production of The Drowsy Chaperone, which is my favourite musical of all time.

And, I need a holiday from my holiday. I pretty much have the most amazing friends, and they have a tendency to move away from me and only return at Christmas time. It's my favourite part of Christmas: seeing my friends again. But seriously, I cannot sustain a lifestyle like that.

My legs hurt a lot today. I went to my first dance class on Tuesday after being off for 2.5 months, and I'm still in pain. I'm missing the class tonight because of the birthday, but I don't think I could handle it if I did go!

Also, do you know how much I love the Olympics? The torch relay just came through my city, and there was a big celebration at our city's landmark / historical site. My sister and I went to the celebration, and when the torch came into the crowd and onto the stage, I started to get misty eyed! I wanted to be a torch bearer so badly, but alas, my name didn't get picked out of the lottery. ::pout:: Still, I'm dressed head to toe in Olympic wear (which HBC did really well with this year, except for the logo that looks like the Conservative Party's logo.

Steven Fletcher (a Conservative MP that used to run my university's students' union -- I disliked him then and I like him even less now) was on stage as the Government of Canada's representative for the torch relay, an my hatred of him almost ruined the moment for me... but then I decided to ignore him and focus on how AWESOME the Olympics are and how much fun all the torch relay stuff is. Because it is seriously awesome.

Although, speaking of stupid politicians, the Prime Minister wants to take a 2 month paid vacation because he doesn't want to have to be accountable to the Canadian people. The official reason is because he wants to wait until the Olympics are over, but really, he's just a douche. Read THIS article on why Stephen Harper is an idiot. Actually, I didn't really need to read the article to know he's an idiot, but it's entertaining.

And last but not least, a big yay to eponine119 who wrote me the most amazing lost fic for the lost hohoho challenge. Seriously, I haven't even commented yet, but it is AWESOME.

I have emails to respond to, and a tonne more to write about, but I have dinner reservations! YAY!
