It's not a real post but at least I'm posting something! Here's the 2008 meme.

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
took a dj-ing class (but i stopped going after the second class because it sucked); realized i have no interest in starting a vinyl collection; went to a friend's child's b-day party; ate special brownies and was blazed for three days

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
i did not keep my resolutions except for wearing a watch.  of course i will make more- how else will i improve?

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
nope...but i'm so excited to answer yes to this question next year!!!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
nope

5. Where did you travel to?
mostly a year of nontravel...vegas, boston, nyc

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
the ability to mediate and a more peaceful mind

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
08.08.08 because it's an awesome date and the beginning of the olympics in china.  and i (with a little help from jozen) also

rearranged the living room into its current configuration while shiloh was working upstairs.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
finding a research topic that excites me and means a lot to me personally,

9. What was your biggest failure?
not being there for my kids

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
the great skateboarding fiasco of 08 left me with a bummed ankle that still hurts to this day.  on the bright side- i didn't

get sick at all this year! in fact, i haven't been sick since i left teaching.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
upgrade the memory in my 6 year old laptop so i wouldn't to buy a new one!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
our country for electing barak

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
the nutcases at the mccain rallys with their xenophobia

14. Where did most of your money go?
food and rent

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
my new research topic

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
"live your life" TI, Rihanna and "i'm your's" jason maraz

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder? Happier...have a clearer idea of what i'm doing and feel at peace in school
ii. Thinner or fatter? Fatter...too many lunches at Panda Express
iii. Richer or poorer? Same

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spend more time with family and friends

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Less time watching TV or clicking away on facebook

21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Still in love with my boo and pretty grateful for the strong relationship we've built. Looking forward to learning more about one another and learning how to grow as indivudals as well as how to support my partner's growth.

22. What was your favorite TV program?
30 Rock, Big Bang Theory, The Wire

23.  What was the best book you read?
(academic) Troubling Education
(pleasure) Color of Water

24. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Leona Naess

25. What did you want and get?
More research direction; Faculty members who are with it

26. What was your favorite film of this year?
Milk - great acting and Milk's push for folks to be out fit well with what i've been spending a lot of time thinking about.

27. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 27 and Alisa, Bill and I had a birthday party. Phil and Vero made the big wheel and it me so happy!

28. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Walrus hat and skateboarding shoes

29. What kept you sane?
Music, boo, walks with the puppy dog

30. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Lindsay Lohan and Rachel Maddow

31. What political issue stirred you the most?
All the anti-gay and homophobic legislation that passed in four states

32. Who did you miss?
My students; it's not the same to just see than a couple of times

33. Who was the best new person you met?
nd- new prof in our dept. he's real down to earth and it's good to have someone our age as a faculty member
bm- because it's important to have a prof who i respect to validate the strength of my work
cn- someone who actually does work i want to do

34. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
Folks are willing to help- I just need to ask.
