Well, gang, a scant 18 months after getting a job at one of my two "dream companies," I am leaving
SAS. I have learned a lot about software development at one of the Goliaths in the industry, and now I am going to go for a stint with one of the Davids.
TopCoder is a very exciting company from my point of view. They have a very bright future and an excellent business model. Their consulting branch works with various different
customers to create customized software applications very quickly. They are able to do this extremely quick and cheap development because of a growing
catalog of components which are largely developed by the 64,000 members who compete in design and implementation competitions.
The job is 100% travel, meaning that they are going to fly me to and from Cary each weekend. There are all kinds of things related to this aspect of the job which I am both excited about and a little anxious about. Overall, I think it will be a very exciting experience.
