the mooninites are attacking boston. flee! flee!

Mmm, Boston. It's vaguely starting to feel like ... well, not like HOME, because this is definitely not home. And actually, that's one of my favorite parts so far. It's cool to be in a place that's not just unfamiliar, but also hosts a completely different type of culture (complete with its own slang and weird accents) and weather patterns (snow?!) and morons in charge (see Cartoon Network scandal). I'm enjoying the fact that most of what was familiar in my life in California is 3,000 miles and four months away.

But the best part? SCHOOL. Berklee is fanTAStic. This is the first time ever that I've enjoyed all of my classes. Certainly I like some more than others, but they're all MUSIC. I'm in a funk ensemble, which is cool because I'm pretty confident that I'm one of the weaker members of the band but the music rocks out anyway. I see a lot of Dan and Carson and a little bit of Alicia, but mostly I go to school and I learn and I learn and I dig it. My private voice instructor is a member of a couple of a cappella groups that I like (Five O'Clock Shadow and Vox One); one of my vocal lab instructors is one of Steely Dan's backup singers (!); and the list goes on and on.

No job yet, but there are prospects on the horizon. I'm supposed to hear back from a toy store sometime ... yesterday, actually, but I'll be putting a call in about it. And I'm going on an application binge today and tomorrow in hopes of getting a job ASAP, as I am in serious danger of not making rent at the rate I'm going. But it's worth the horrific poverty, to be frank.

I think I'm starting to lose weight. That's what happens when you don't have a car and you walk everywhere. But I don't really know, and I don't really want to keep track except in terms of my appearance and how I feel for the time being. I'm going to join a gym next week, so I'll have a regular exercise schedule.

Personal transformations, anyone?
