my past two weekends have been quite excellent.
the weekend before last, i had the pleasure of meeting justin's mom. she is adorable and i want to toss her into the air. we had such a great time- on saturday, the three of us grabbed delicious sandwiches from genovas and took them to the berkeley rose garden. the roses seemed to be dying off already, but the weather was gorgeous. we ate, chatted, and took photos. we spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around berkeley- music shopping at amoeba, browsing through an herb shop on telegraph, making an after dark visit to justins workplace, and talking over many a glass of wine/mug of brew. we managed to get chez panisse rez, so we enjoyed a delectable meal whilst discussing life and psychedelics. justin and i dropped her back off at the clairemont around 1am, all of us rather tipsy from our wine heavy day.
we met back up on sunday, and drove to the city. we visited the burning man art piece near the bay bridge, walked over to the ferry building, went to the new mall, checked out a couple of shops and bought creme puffs. justin bought me a pair of lovely metal-yet-girly earrings from anthropologie. we then went to the castro theatre to see the weirdest movie ever made- and not weird in a good way. it was crispon hellion glovers directorial debut, and he was there to present his film. it started out quite interesting, with a lenghty performance by glover- him reading from books he "wrote", while images from the books were projected on the movie screen. it was twisted, dark, and funny. but the movie itself was a huge let down, barely making any sense at all, and just succeeding in pissing all three of us off. it was definitely an interesting experience, to say the least. we then walked down to delfina (mmm mm!) to meet my mom for dinner. our moms chatted and were cute, and we all indulged in delightful food stuffs. when justin and his mom dropped me back off at home later that night, she presented me with a chez panisse engagement calendar i had pointed out earlier in the day. CUTE.
over the week, we also took her to suzu for delicious hand pulled noodles, followed by dimples for a sketchy brothel experience. we rounded out our evening by walking the labyrinth at grace cathedral under the moon.
i so enjoyed my time with her, and it was heartwarming as hell to see her and justin together. also, i am going to go to iowa with justin over thanksgiving, which i am ridiculously excited about! IOWA! :D
this weekend- on friday, justin and i went to ryokos for marvelously tasty sushi rolls, and then went to philip and tracys space for their halloween party. it was fun, but we left around 2, hoping to make it to another party at the biscuit factory. on the way home, we got a flat tire, and had to call for service, due to a stripped tire wrench. we were stranded at 4th and brannon, which at that point in time, was the DRUNKEST CORNER IN HUMAN HISTORY. it was latin explosion night at the glas kat, and i have seriously never seen such an influx of drunk humans on one corner. at one point, a guy stumbled over to our car, packed up our truck with a stumbly determination, and then proceeded to climb into justins back seat, squashing my delightful sushi leftovers in the process. through out this whole ordeal justin was physically trying to move him away from the car, and i was yelling, and even called the cops. he finally realized it was not his car when his friends screeched up to the corner, bellowing at him to get out. it was a crazy few minutes to say the least. we did not make it to the second party that night.
on saturday, we enjoyed a very nice day at home, cooking, resting, watching movies, and other very nice things. we went to lindsay and bobs halloween party that night- but being the nocturnal freaks that we are, got there AFTER everyone else had left. lindsay, the obscenely sweet one that she is, still invited us in warmly for pie and beer, we chatted for awhile, with a passed out bob snoring next to us on the couch. after that, we went over to a cool space on harrison and 11th for the highko party- highko was crazy as hell, and a lot of fun to dance to. we passed out that night around 7am.
sunday was also spent relaxing- going to our favorite cafe on polk, shopping at real foods, cooking dinner, and watching more cyberpunk flicks. justin left after dinner, and i got some much needed cleaning done around my apartment and went to sleep early. i am still trying to adjust to waking up early for work. i am managing, but oh, its hard.
tonight i am going to the bar feeders show with amy and jackie and possibly justin. i dont know the other bands that are playing, but its an alcoholicaust event, and i generally like most of the music shows he puts on.
tomorrow is my dear ones birthday. (golden era of justin)
yes. happy halloween. spooky times.
