Random TV thoughts for last night.
I really love Chuck. It sort of has the guilty pleasure aspect of The O.C. but it's also a stronger show. Makes sense since Josh Schwartz has had some more TV practice :)
So I love the "fake" break up. I love that Sarah had to play her feeling sad as having to "play the part" when it was clear for the entire time that she really was just sad.
Casey pointing out her habit of dating the clients was great. Perhaps she shouldn't be sent into missions where she has to pretend to be a girlfriend because clearly it doesn't go well for her. Well on the one hand it goes very well but on the professional side of the fence it's not looking good. I also love that Casey clarifies that he's not interested LOL.
On my Casey theme I also enjoyed the cigar smoking, very Jayne like. Not sure if that was an intentional shout out or not but I'll take it as such.
I also liked that there was the aspect of an actual mission that didn't involve Chuck (initially) so that we could see that yes these people are actual agents and are doing other work beyond following up on whatever Chuck flashes on (dirty! LOL.)
The Lou storyline was cute, I liked the apology with sandwich making. Rachel Bilson was having fun with the role. No complaints there. I'm glad it wasn't turned into a huge drawn out thing right now and I also like that she still works near by if they need to ever have her drop in again during another sweeps month ;) Well played all around. However she's no Sarah...
Yes I waited this long to get to The Kiss. Much love for that moment. Loved that it happened, loved that they just kept going, love that Chuck was all "not awkward from where I'm standing" Fantastic!
Now the ad that was saying that the kiss wasn't the big surprise of the episode was stuck in my head but I totally thought it was going to be bull. We'd get some little plot twist or whatever but it wouldn't be that much of a big deal... apparently in this case commercials do not lie though and we get BRYCE!? Holy @#)*% is that ever going to get complicated. It was fantastic editing having that reveal spliced in with Chuck's phone call to Sarah. The scenes were played so well by all actors and that growing feeling of "oh crap" was present through the entire lead up to finding Bryce. Although I was thinking that they'd think the "bomb" was all safe and then suddenly it was going to blow but this was was far better. There's going to be angst and conflict and all kinds of shippyness. I'm so in! Of course all of this also I think now has to wait 'til after the WGA Strike is resolved... I'm not sure if they have one more episode left or not... I guess I'll find out this week.
Heroes
I was very entertained by this week's episode, the show is on an upswing! I'm glad to see it.
Once again I was not really able to hate KBell's character based on KBell playing her. Elle is completely crazy and that's being played well. She's also smug and spoiled and for that I think KBell is pretty much typecast. However it's working really well for the character and I'm excited to see where her storyline goes. I think there's enough there that we're going to feel somewhat sorry for the character in that some horrible events led up to her becoming who she is... on the other hand who she is really isn't someone who invokes a lot of pity. It'll make for interesting television.
Matt now being able to put thoughts into people's heads definitely will play out in an interesting way. Reading thoughts is one thing but being able to plant suggestions is something that can have even the best of people excercising poor judgement and doing not so great things. I think in the end he'll be a good guy but there's a lot of room for him to be doing not so great things for a while. It's a lot of temptation when you can pretty much get away with doing whatever you want. However kudos to him for going right to Ma Petrelli and making her talk.
The Claire storyline played out well. It was a spot on teenage reaction of "I'm not moving and you can't make me." I totally pulled that as a teenager when my parents tried to move us to BC however there was no evil corporation chasing my parents and so I won that round and I guess technically so did she although she's now stuck with a much greater cost and I'm sure won't learn for a while that her father is okay. Now if her blood can heal is she then like Adam and would be able to live for 400+ years? The two of them will have an interesting conversation should they ever meet I'm sure.
I'm confused as to why Hiro thought he could save someone from being killed... again? Wasn't that sort of the lesson last season. He tried to save that waitress and wasn't able to change what was supposed to happen. I didn't see much of first season so maybe I missed something there but I thought that was what was supposed to be learned, but now we get to learn it again. Meh. I suppose it was necessary to show the reveal of who was doing the killing.
Next week we still have more Heroes :) *yay* I think they said there's two episodes left before indefinite reruns kick in...
