Broadway show meme nabbed from abbagirl

First name your ten favourite Broadway shows then answer the questions under the cut.

(Choosing 10 is pretty hard, I just stuck to 10 I've seen and highly enjoyed.)

1. Wicked
2. RENT
3. Cabaret
4. Les Miserables
5. Chicago
6. Urinetown
7. You're A Good Man Charlie Brown
8. Into the Woods
9. Avenue Q
10. Little Women

Have you ever seen these shows live? If so, where?

Yes to all of them (I really only chose shows I've seen live) so:
1. On Broadway and in TO.
2. Toroto (yay Canadian cast!) and on Broadway, I think it's a total of 35 times and some half shows but really I've lost track.
3. Toronto and Sudbury (I know!)
4. This was my first real show I've seen it in TO
5. Toronto and New York, this was my second Bway show (RENT was my first) and I saw Bebe in it!
6. Viv's family took me to this at CanStage (Toronto) and I loved it!
7. On Broadway
8. I have a vague memory of seeing this when I was in elementary school, it would have been a small production though. I'd love to see it again (aside from the filmed version.)
9. Broadway (and soon in TO!)
10. Broadway :)

What's your favorite song from show 2?
Goodbye Love the full version, not just the Mimi stuff at the end.

Who's your favorite character from show 4?
Eponine clearly. How many times am I going to be that character in life huh?

What's your favorite scene from show 5?
Cell Block Tango ranks pretty high up there. My favourite scenes are always changing depending on my mood though.

What's your favorite lyric from show 8?
1 lyric from Sondheim!? Okay...
"Isn't it nice to know a lot! And a little bit not..."

"To be happy, and forever,
You must see your wish come true.
Don't be careful, don't be clever.
When you see your wish, pursue.
It's a dangerous endeavor,
But the only thing to do"

"Sometimes people leave you.
Halfway through the wood.
Others may decieve you.
You decide whats good.
You decide alone.
But no one is alone."

From show 10, which character are you most like?
Jo! I have bits of the different characters in me for sure but I find that I identify the most with Jo.

Can you quote every line from show 1?
Yup. No question.

How many times have you seen show 3?
Ummm not sure, I think 4.

If you could be anyone from show 6, who would it be? Why?
Maybe Little Sally, she's a smart ass :)

What's your favorite song from show 7?
Ummm 'Schroeder' and 'Book Report' I think top my list. This is just such a cute happy show.

What's your favorite quote from show 9?

"What do you do with a B.A. in English,
What is my life going to be?
Four years of college and plenty of knowledge,
Have earned me this useless degree.

I can't pay the bills yet,
'Cause I have no skills yet,
The world is a big scary place.

But somehow I can't shake,
The feeling I might make,
A difference,
To the human race.
"

all of There's a Fine Fine Line

There's a fine, fine line between a lover and a friend;
There's a fine, fine line between reality and pretend;
And you never know 'til you reach the top if it was worth the uphill climb.

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

There's a fine, fine line between a fairy tale and a lie;
And there's a fine, fine line between "You're wonderful" and "Goodbye."
I guess if someone doesn't love you back it isn't such a crime,
But there's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of your time.

And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore.
I don't think that you even know what you're looking for.
For my own sanity, I've got to close the door
And walk away...
Oh...

There's a fine, fine line between together and not
And there's a fine, fine line between what you wanted and what you got.
You gotta go after the things you want while you're still in your prime...

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

"I wanna go back to my room and find a message in dry-erase pen on the door!"

"Don't stress,
Relax,
Let life roll off your backs
Except for death and paying taxes,
Everything in life is only for now!
"

Out of all these shows, which one is your absolute favorite?
Can't choose a favourite, it's always changing.

Who's the best Broadway actor?
Again, can't choose only one, I just can't do it

Who's the best Broadway actress?
Not choosing!

What's the best musical they turned into a movie?
Wicked! No wait they haven't done that yet, someone make this a movie! Ummm Sound Of Music is one of my absolute favourites, not sure if that was stage before movie though. I really like Cabaret.

Is there a musical you DON'T like? If so, which one? Why?
Lord of the Rings - which I totally can choose because when I saw it it was still being marketed as a musical. It was way too long, too much money invested in effects, not enough time put into songwriting. Having elvish language/songs play while actors stood on stage not moving their mouths was not impressive when I want to see people sing. Gollum was good, the rest of the show pretty much sucked. They got too involved in having a lot of detail from the books in the show and that made the show just drag on and on. Musicals work when they take a simple version of a book and work around that (see Wicked, the book has a LOT more detail, it woudn't have worked on stage.)

Do you think the movie versions are better, or the original Broadway shows?
Broadway shows clearly!

musicals, broadway, meme
