HAPPY NEW YEAR :)

I hope everyone had lots of fun last night. I went to Jo's party and had a lovely time. I only knew her to start with but her friends are wonderful and just the sort of people you have an instant comfort level with so it was great fun. I tried some great drinks (mulled wine and hot cocoa with tequila rose and a fabulous tequila sunrise) topped off midnight with a quick drink of pepsi mixed with vodka with a vanilla twist (which tastes like candy... sooo glad those things didn't surface until I was just finishing highschool!) There was wonderful conversation to be had all night and we saw the countdown on CityTV where the band Hedley with that Canadian Idol kid Jacob Hoggard (I had to look that one up) performed. Most gay performance ever (seriously I thought this kid was straight when I met him a few years ago... now maybe not so much...) but entertaining to say the least.

I left the party with a few people and walked with them over to Yonge St. and then headed to Queen St. to catch my streetcar home. There were TONS of police out around Dundas Square, which I realized as I'm halfway through walking past it would probably be because that's the area where people were getting shot. Charming. Actually I refuse to feel unsafe in downtown TO because of a couple of shooting incidents, if it's your time, it's your time, I don't like the idea of being afraid of my city. Then when I got to Queen St. I actually didn't have to wait too long at all last night for a streetcar *yay* TTC! and I made it home in pretty good time. Zion was so pleased to see me, there was much purring on his part :)

So New Years Resolution time:

1. Try to do one thing each month that puts me outside of my comfort zone. Going to a New Years Eve party where I woudln't know anyone is a good example. That ended up being so fun and I'm always glad when I do things like that, so I want to make a concious effort to keep doing them.

2. Follow my dreams. I didn't for a long time and it's scary as hell now trying for things I really want, but so worth it.

3. Be happy. Since I graduated from University and got the hell out of Sudbury I worked on just finding as much joy as I possibly could from life. As a result I keep getting happier and it's just so much better than when I was in school up there and throroughly depressed and disillusioned with the world and with life. So I'd like to keep up being wide eyed and happy in the world.

4. Start creating an "inspiration book." I want to scrapbook just all of the sayings and pictures and things that I see in passing which are uplifting to me. Like one of those little Zen Guide to Happiness books (Viv bought me one of those one year for my birthday I believe and I still look through that from time to time :) I quite like it ) except this one would be completely personalized.

5. Learn more. I think this ties in with read more, which I started to do more of in December and I love reading and I miss it horribly when I get too busy with everyday life stuff to read, so I'm going to try to set aside reading time each day again until it becomes habitual like it used to be. I also just want to keep learning, I don't care what I'm learning so much as long as I'm interested and it's new :)

I think that's it for now :)
