Birthday Stuffs

Birthday Stuffs... (From various days, because I'm apparently too busy to finish a post ever....)

Tuesday of last week, my lovely boss asked if she could buy me lunch. Told me to bring paper to take notes, and we'd review what I'd been working on, since we're both busy busy... She asked if I minded if she stopped and got coffee first though, because she hadn't had any all day.

So, I suspect absolutely nothing as we pull up to Starbucks. She didn't go straight to the counter to order, but rather hung back a minute... then she pointed to the seating area and said "Do you recognize those people?"

I look in the direction she gestured, and see my mom and my sisters Tovah and Savanah. Mom has a camera. We go over to talk to them, and Carla reveals that she's not really going to lunch, I'm not really going to need my notepad I'd brought to take a few notes (you know, business lunch)... and that I'm not really going back to work today, beyond picking up my car. They take a few pictures, Carla presents her personal Tiara from her birthdays... And I don't have to go back to work for the rest of the day!

My mom goes with me, and my sisters take off together... Mom gives directions to head down Marsh to 635, and we go down to exit MacArthur in Las Colinas. We wind up at Sala Thai, and have a lovely lunch. Mmm. Pad See Eaw. :) It's been so long since I've had it, I totally forgot how delightful it was. Their peanut sauce and satay was delish. The curry was tasty, but I would have preferred massaman curry to the yellow we had.

Sadly they were out of fresh mango, so no sticky rice. We tried the snowball, fried coconut icecream with raspberry sauce, and a tapioca, which was good, but not sticky rice.

From there, mom again navigated (according to my sisters directions).... off to Flower Mound... we turn in, and she says to look for Savanah's car... The Sutara Day Spa awaited... facial, spa pedicure, and make up application from a delightful woman named Lisa. Lisa apparently trained my sisters when she taught for Paula Dorf cosmetics (what the Four Seasons carries). My sister Livea met us there, and was her usual corny self...

4 hours later, we headed off for dinner. Probably the only "mistake" of the day... We tried a small restaurant that had opened recently near my mother's house... They need help. We have feedback on everything. The high school aged waitress worked hard and was delightful. The food was bland, cooked wrong, their salad dressings were nasty, and they didn't have the only dessert I was interested in trying.

Wednesday of last week:
I came in to work this morning to find out no one expected me til noon (damn I wish I knew that! I sooo would have slept in!), and my cubicle draped in black streamers and little 4 inch Jack Skellington heads taped on everything! They stopped themselves before adding one to my Montblanc Johnny Depp, but gave the sleeping fairy painting and tinkerbell a new noggin. Two black Happy Birthday Balloons... 27 Jack Skellington heads!

About an hour ago Michelle came by and said "meeting, conference room!" I grab my notepad and pen, and head in there... Cheesecake and watermelon, and Happy Birthday! Geeze everyone is early this year!

Three more days, and I turn 30. hee! So far so good!

Tuesday, July 26th...
Been 30 for 3 days now. Am totally not worried about age... The aesthetician at Sutera confirmed what I hear all the time, that I have great skin. She was thrilled that I consume little to no caffeine, and drink water like a fish... Apparently it shows in my skin. ;)

Took Saturday (my birthday) very easy... Slept in, got up and cooked a little migas (minus chorizo) for the kids and I... Proceeded to veg on DAoC for lack of anything more meaningful to do. I'd hit realm rank 7 Friday night, and so continued my weekend of RVR. ;) I'm sitting at 175,000 rps for the week, which is really just the last 5 days.

Made RR7L1 last night... way too fun! :)

I have a couple other posts to make so off this one goes...
