A Twi-activity for my Twi-friends: Making a Playlist
I thought this might be a fun thing to do with some of my Twilight friends since I know a lot of us are going through the post-movie release obsession. Also, it may be a good way for some of us to get to know each other since I just mad a whole lot of NEW Twi-friends in the past few weeks! Special. I don't know how many of you guys had to resort to this when reading the series, but the only way I knew how to cope with finishing the first 3 novels (Breaking Dawn hadn't come out when I first read them) was to make a playlist of songs that I personally thought fit the emotional tone of each book.
So what I want to do is share my playlist with you guys in chronology, along with an explanation of whose POV the song refers to, and a few lines that are most meaningful/fitting for me. I hope you enjoy, and perhaps you will go on iTunes and download your favorites.
In the comments, I'd love to hear what you think and for you to share some of YOUR Twi-songs so that maybe through this, we'll all head to iTunes and download some great Twi-music we may not have heard of before. This may help some of you get through your homework this week or be a fun reward for after you are finally off work for the week... or may just seem dumb. But I wanted to do it anyways and see what happens! ENJOY! (please?)
Book 1: Twilight
1. Strange and Beautiful - Aqualung
-Edward’s POV; While noticing Bella at school.
2. Stolen - Dashboard Confessional
-Edward or Bella
3. I Caught Fire - The Used
-Edward or Bella; more Bella, though (The bridge is the most Bella!)

4. This is For Keeps - The Spill Canvas
-Edward’s POV; at Port Angeles or on the way to the Meadow; pretty perfect song, listen to the whole thing! I SWEAR it’s about vampires.
Lyrics: “The streets are dark, my pulse is flat-lined as I'm running to you/You sit completely unaware of what I'm about to do/The air is thick with tension much like when we are together/My fangs are aching as I'm pondering about you and I forever”
5. Iris - The Goo Goo Dolls
-Edward’s POV; I know this is super lame. But I freaking love this song, and it’s perfect. So there.
6. Somewhere Only We Know - Keane
-Edward; in the Meadow
7. Seventeen Forever - Metro Station
-Edward; first kiss at the Meadow; Kind of just for fun. J
8. You are the Moon - The Hush Sound
-Bella’s POV; the first night Edward stays with her (with her permission). This may very well be one of my favorites from my Twilight play list. The imagery of the song and the way I picture Edward bathed in moonlight that first night he stays with her after the meadow is PERFECT for me. And it also deals with the idea that the person the song is about doesn’t realize how beautiful they are = EDWARD AND HIS SELF LOATHING.
Lyrics: “You don't see what you possess, a beauty calm and clear/It floods the sky and blurs the darkness like a chandelier/All the light that you possess is skewed by lakes and seas/The shattered surface, so imperfect, is all that you believe”
9. River Flows in You - Yimura
-Edward; the lullaby.
10. So that I could Rescue You - South FM
-Edward; when he rescues Bella, duh.
11. Here in Your Arms - Hellogoodbye
-Bella; every night with Edward
Book 2: New Moon
1. Good Enough - Evanescence
-Bella; I chose this for the beginning of New Moon because she finally seems like she’s happy and confident. Of course, we know the world shatters around her soon after. This song talks about her knowledge of the power her love holds over her.
Lyrics: “Drink up sweet decadence./I can't say no to you/And I've completely lost/myself, and I don't mind./I can't say no to you.”
2. Surface (Wake Up)/ The Wound - South FM
- Edward; during the break up. I thought it was wonderfully titled as this action creates the wound, and it says what I am sure he was thinking: “These a not the words that I would like to saying to you…”
3. I Wasn’t Prepared - Eisley
-Bella; just after the breakup, remembering the meadow. This song actually brought me to tears when I heard it in the middle of reading New Moon. OMG. PERFECTION. The “Come back to me, my darling” part really got me.
Lyrics: “Oh, when the day is blue/I'll sit here wondering about you/And how the pollen fell/All around your face in strange yellow patterns/But, i wasn't prepared for this”
4. Don’t Wake Me Up - The Hush Sound
-Bella; She’s afraid she’ll forget and he’ll be like a dream.
5. Endlessly, She Said - AFI
-Edward; off in the world somewhere whimpering about leaving. I always wondered what he would feel like during this time and WTF is he doing. I decided he was singing this song.
6. My Beautiful Rescue - This Providence
-Bella; As she starts becoming reckless; pretty perfect song!!
Lyrics: “I've been jumping from the tops of buildings./For the thrill of the fall. /Ignoring sound advice./And any thought of consequence./My bones are shattered./My pride is shattered./And in the midst of this self-inflicted pain./I can see my beautiful rescue.”
7. Who Am I to Say - Hope
-Bella; Loosing faith that Edward loves her. This one will make you tear up.
8. Go Away - Eisley
-Bella; becoming more rebellious towards Edward’s voice. “You wanted me to be human… watch me.”
9. Always Breaking Down - Hero Factor
-Jakes POV; Pretty much perfect! This is my biggest triumph of all the songs on all the lists. I saw this band at a small venue in Tulsa and I don’t think many other people have heard of them. But when I made this list, this songs was one I KNEW I had to put on here for Jake.
Lyrics: “I`ve rebuilt your soul/But it cost me in gold/I`ll stand with youCause my love you can`t undo/People laugh when they drive by/And we`re just sitting here/You`re always breaking down/You`re perfect with a frown/But I won`t give up on you.”

-Bella; wanting Jake to make her happy again. I LOVE this song. It paints the perfect picture of vulnerability and it’s exactly what I imagine Bella would say to Jake when she’s feeling her most weak.

11. X&Y - Coldplay
Bella to Jake; wants to care for him the same way, but doesn’t know if she can.
12. Near to You - A Fine Frenzy
-Bella; song to Jake about their situation. SO PERFECT. We all know this.
13. Your Guardian Angel - Red Jumpsuit Aparatus
-Edward; returning and promising to always stay. Ok. SO many people added this song to their play lists, but they added it at the end of Twilight. That doesn’t work for me because, um, hello. EDWARD LEAVES. So I thought it was much more fitting for when he has returned and learned that he can NEVER leave and decides that he never will. Much better. J
Book 3: Eclipse (Sorry most of these are Jake songs. Ok pretty much all are.)
1. All Over You - Live
-Just in general Bella and Edward’s love. A lot is against them and it’s weird but beautiful.
2. Here Is Gone - Goo Good Dolls
-Jacob; This is the song I imagine Jake would want Bella to hear when he's writing the letters that say they can't be friends anymore. I would post lyrics but they're ALL so great. Listen to the song.
3. Fake - The Frames
-Jacob; Telling Bella not to be with Edward. LOVE this one. It got the Jake attitude in it.
Lyrics: “You're telling me I will regret you/And so/You're talking like i should expect to/
But you'll never know/C’mon the guy’s a fake/What do you love him for/And it was my mistake/ Just kicking in his door/And if it’s just a game/What’re we crying for?”
4. Burn Back the Sun - Decyfer Down
-Jacob; as he looses hope for him and Bella. LOVE this song. Really hurts my heart for my little Jake.
Lyrics: “I have tasted the apathy,/It's bitter on my lips,/I am not who I used to be,/Betrayal with a kiss,/Open mouth for the prodigal,/You kept the flame alive,”
5. I Really Want You - James Blunt
-Jacob; Bella comes to him at the end and they talk about her choice
6. You Could Be Happy - Snowpatrol
-Jacob; After Bella comes to explain and “break up” with him and chooses Edward
7. Dizzy - Jimmy Eat World
-Jacob; After he runs away in the Epilogue. What he would say to Bella now…

-I guess this can kind of apply to Bella’s decision to become a vampire or not

-Kind of applies to Bella and how her life has changed since she’s met the Cullens and how it will be different as a
