Livius Crouch paced back and forth, his robes swishing furiously. There was no time to be wasted. Had he not been adequately clear? Had he not -
"Good morning," said Charlotte Lucas cheerfully, stepping out of the fireplace. "How are you, Mr Crouch?"
Crouch growled.
"I am glad to hear it. Last week, your sister Potter said that you were under the - oh, there you are, Darcy."
"Lucas," returned Darcy, nodding as he walked through the doorway. "Mr Crouch. Your note said you required us on a matter of urgent business? - related, I presume, to the Knights?" He glanced pointedly at the clock; he was forty-five seconds early.
"Of course it's the Knights," their mentor snapped. "Who else could it be?"
Darcy rubbed his nose. "Napoleon? Traitors? Spies?"
"Common murderers?" added Lucas. "Thieves, revolutionaries, Muggles? Perhaps another wayward Obliviator?"
Crouch had discovered - nay, selected - these two personally. It was at moments like this that he regretted it.
