Okay, maybe not quite afternoon. Anyway.
Oh! There was an interesting essay on Slave Leia
here. I pretty much agree on the in-story level, and completely disagree on the meta-level; I think it's gratuitous fanservice, its use of valuable screentime shortchanges other plotlines (most notably the Vader-Luke one which is kind of the main point), the blatant male gaze-iness makes it uncomfortable for me to even watch, and Carrie Fisher's forced weight loss makes it still worse. And ... well, I won't bother recapping, since I covered all my feelings on it in
this essay. So I do think Fangirl gave the men who came up with that sequence way too much credit.

Um wow, how do I begin to choose? Well, there was a song question on the last meme, and I talked about the Imperial March and Luke's Theme, so I'll go for something else. Um. Well, I guess I can choose from my favourites. Let's see, I love Luke and Leia, Duel of the Fates, Across the Stars, Anakin's Dark Deeds (all the dark!Anakin music, really), A New Hope (*sob*), Binary Sunset (and the Force theme generally - Leia's News/Light of the Force is also great), The Asteroid Field, Battle of Endor 2 (->when Luke turns to the Dark Side omg), Battle of the Heroes... right, pretty much everything except the wonky Grievous music. But I think I'm going to have to go for this one.

I got goosebumps every time I listen to this. It's just gorgeous. And Leia. And A;ASDF;ADK;ADADKL;ADJKL;
Also, I love that the Skywalkers are not just the most epic characters, they get the most epic music too: Vader's theme, Leia's theme, Luke's theme, and Luke and Leia's theme. Damn. True fact: if you are not a Skywalker, your theme music is inferior. NO EXCEPTIONS. Even Indy.
Asexuality meme
(3) How old were you when you realized you were asexual? What made you realize it?
I don't think there was a clear moment when I realized I wasn't sexually attracted to people, because it just ... didn't happen? I was pretty well-aware of that by thirteen, I think, though I assumed I was a late bloomer; I was near certain I wasn't going to change by seventeen. If you mean, when did I actively ID as asexual? Well, I'd never heard of it until I ran across AVEN when I was around twenty-two (and, um, started crying). So it'd be about then.
As for the what made me realize it ... er. It's kind of obvious? I guess I occasionally wondered if I were lesbian, because men are so generally not appealing to me. But I figured that "if I absolutely had to, I'd rather it were a woman, but ick please no" probably doesn't count. As soon as I stumbled across AVEN, I knew that's what I was.

(3) For each of the fandoms from Day 2, what were your favourite characters to write?
Seriously? Um, okay.
Austen
I automatically said Darcy, but actually, he's my favourite character to write about. I think I write Elizabeth much more often. She's not really my favourite either though, because she's a bit difficult for me to get a handle on. I actually enjoyed Mary Crawford a bit more. But I think my favourite was honestly Georgiana Darcy. I was a neurotic shy teenager myself, though happily not a victim of a sexual predator, and she was easy and comfortable, and as always, I enjoyed making a point of veering away from canon and sticking to my interpretation of the book character, with all her submissiveness and adoration and initial shock at Elizabeth's Elizabethness.
Middle-earth
Lothíriel. Again, while my favourite character is Faramir, and I wrote about him the most, she was the most entertaining to write. Almost completely an OC, of course, and I inflicted my Stewardist leanings on her - exaggerated well beyond mine, even, because that made it funner. Lothíriel is so often the wild rebellious girl who just doesn't fit in with the Gondorian ways that I really enjoyed making her a total Númenórean type, all tradition and pride and iron will.
Star Wars
Without question, Anakin Skywalker. I don't do a lot in the prequel era (for obvious reasons), but even when I do, I love writing him. SW is pretty about him, for me? I mean, his children too, but their lives are defined by him in a lot of ways, especially Luke's. And since everything is so epic with him all the tiemz, he's rather a joy to write - I never have to go "hm, is this too dramatic for him?" Nothing is too dramatic for him.
Also, he's kind of hilarious in an unstable, murderous way.
Harry Potter
Snape. Severus Snape. Again, not my favourite character (that would be Harry!), but by far the most interesting one, and so overflowing with issues that he's fun and interesting to write.
Narnia
I've only written three stories, but of those three ... Lasaraleen, probably. For the lulz.
Bones
Er, I only wrote my P&P crossover drabble - but the Brennan/Darcy analogue was definitely my favourite.
