Current project [JA fanfic]
Just a brief note - I've been gone and written nothing new in ages, but actually I've been working on some backstory, deciding what to keep of my old P&P universe and what to get rid of. At this point I'm definitely kicking Milton & offspring - just too melodramatic. I'm keeping Ella, though aging her slightly (she and the colonel are "Irish twins" - she the elder), probably Cecily, adjusting Lady Anne into a superficially Mrs Lennox-ish personality, blah blah.
So here's the first bit of my current work, which incorporates material from LTF (yes, really! I've been missing it), C&C, Claims, and even to some degree SC. Ooh, and Rosemary from TRAAR might eventually show up. I've been reposting it and I had a weird desire to write her interacting w/ Elizabeth in a normal situation. Mostly it's Fitzwilliam stuff, the old backstory. Anyway, this is the opening paragraph:
She did not love him; she did not even like him - but the Fitzwilliams liked his ancient name and extensive property, so she walked to the church and promised an adoring Sir Lewis de Bourgh that she would obey and serve him for the rest of their lives. Since he had the decency to die within five years, it was a happy marriage, and Lady Catherine proceeded to reign over his property and relatives with an iron hand.
