I actually got a saturday off and went with Amber to Courtenay and had a great visit. It feels so good to be able to do that. Hopefully I will get more weekend days off...
There's a chance because they've rotated the assistant managers and that means someone else doing the scheduling. Also I've been training a new lady in my area and hopefully that means she'll get some of my worse shifts. One reason I work weekends and evenings is because I'm one of the few people who can cover all of Hardlines (sports, hardware, electronics, housewares, domestics, fabrics, furniture and crafts). Basically I can mix paints, cut fabrics, cut keys, do cash, handle lock up areas and do licences . I'm what they call swasal... Also known as a floater.
And that - while it gets me a lot of hours -may work against me in the hardware dept managers job. I will not be an easy person to replace.
I got my interview. I'm one of 20 people who applied it seems. And I'm not the only one who's noticed it's made people a bit nuts. The rumour mill has been working double time.... and most of them are contradictory. Anyway, they were standard interview questions so no hint there. The lady that interviewed me, told me that even if I don't get this job that I should definately still apply for future ones. She also said I'm more qualified for the job then I seem to realize. So, am I being told that while I can do the job someone more qualified has applied? Probably. I just want to know who it is dammit :)
