(no subject)
In celebration of this beautiful day I am going to write an LJ post! I swear I have never been busier in my entire life, almost to the point of hysterics, but oddly enough I am enjoying literally every moment.
Easter was a much needed break, serving every mass at Holy Week again this year was a treat, lunching with lej hammer and Molly "led the way" (get it? get it?) and getting loads of chocolate didn't hurt either! The break was way too short in my opinion but what can you do....it also meant that this year was almost over and that is really sad.
The next couple of weeks were filled with the wonder that is CAB interviews. I think we picked a really good board and am excited for next year where we hope to bring brand new enthusiasm and ideas to campus activities (sorry, shameless plug). While doing all this I still had to do Spring Weekend stuff. We met with the "campus community" and were informed by the athletic director that the lacrosse schedules conflicted just a smidge but we sorted that out thankfully and everything was going great!
This week was really tough for many reasons, I guess you could use the absolute horrible weather as a jump off point for the bad week. The Virginia Tech shootings on Monday cast a shadow over the entire campus, I don't really know how to put into words what I felt but when I called my mom and she worriedly said "I am glad to hear from you, it's tough....you know....you send your kids to college, thinking they will be safe...." I felt such a sense of deep sadness and fear....what kind of world do we live in where someone can do something like this?
Getting back into the swing of things with two presentations and a paper was not helpful, but they ended up being really great and I made two powerpoint presentations!!! No where near as good as my 6th grade one on Galileo in JFK but what can you do? Work was difficult but it got done.
Also in light of Monday, after meeting with the senate and deciding as an organization how to proceed our entire Spring Weekend theme, including publicity, graphics, certain events and binders was changed from our choice of James Bond. Let's just say between 10PM on Thursday and 10:30 AM Friday we essentially re-worked about 5 months of work and planning.
That's enough complaining though......GOOD THINGS LIST TIME
1)Even though no James Bond, it will still be THE BEST SPRING WEEKEND EVER (which just so happens to be our theme)
----->INSERT: I went to Coldstone with Amy and Lexie and got free cartons of Ice cream I mean blood, poison and "leave this alone"
2)I witnessed Sasha's second time in a Walmart in her life and helped her pick out a Slip n Slide
3)I bought a headband
4)I went to the Spring Fling dance with cool kids
5)I sat on a soft track thingy and watched Amy run and Lexie run (different run context) the Relay for disaster relief
6) Today was GORGEOUS!
7)After a leadership conference where I learned to be a leader, I lay out on the lawn in the sun at the Battle of the Bands
8) My parents came and took me out to dinner
9)I played RISK and came in 3rd
10) I am writing this LJ post!
