It's a feeding frenzy at my house today. The birds must know something I don't, because everyone in the neighborhood is eating like there's no tomorrow. Maybe thunderstorms are approaching, because every bird and his sister is out there, along with a few squirrels and a chipmunk, eating like it's their final meal.
But every so often, a mourning dove comes flying in like a drunken kamikaze pilot, and every bird, even the CROWS, scatter like Moth-ra is descending. Now if you've seen mourning doves, you know that they are not the most aerodynamic birds around: great big body, little tiny head. Yet they're so determined to get some of the ground feed, they swoop in with no fear, despite the fact that not five minutes ago, I saw one of them bounce off of the house, land on the ground, get up, and start feedng, oblivious to the fact that its behavior had cleared every bird in the area.
It amuses me to no end. I'll never get anything done today with this going on outside the kitchen window.
