Lord I've been sucking even more than usual at posting lately. Between Christmas, New Years, my birthday, Kay's birthday, my SIL's birthday, Crispini's birthday and Twisty G's birthday for the past month and a half my life has been an endless loop of planning, shopping, wrapping, decorating, celebrating and cleaning up for the next round. And the next. And the next. And the next. I say this every year but I always feel so bad for Twisty G because by the time we get to his birthday everyone is so celebrated out it's hard to muster up any more enthusiasm.

Fortunately he's a relatively normal, self absorbed 6 year old (WHEN THE SHIT DID THAT HAPPEN?) boy so he's yet to notice.

Toss in endless vomit and squirts and sleep deprivation and a funeral and oh holy gods I really really need to lie down. A few more picture filled posts and we should be all caught up again and ready to return to our regular whinging again...

Kay's reaction when she finds out her birthday surprise is High Tea at the Windsor Arms

She even acidentally colour coordinated. My bitch is the prettiest bitch in all the land!

Ravensee and Red arrive

As does the fantastic spread. That would be our petit fours on top, selection of sammiches in the middle and scones on the bottom.

SCONES!

WITH DEVON CREAM!

I'd never had either before and it's more than a week later and I still dream about them pretty much every night.

Kay ordered fancy rose tea which came in a fancy rose tea pot.

I hate tea so I stuck with champagne. Ha.

Kay gamely tried the caviar and salmon sandwich

It doesn't go so well

Trying to subtlely get a pic of the decor without getting us tossed out on our ears

OMG TINY LEMON MERINGUE!!

I spotted this from across the room and nearly wept that between both our dessert selections there wasn't a single one. So I drooled. And I coveted. And I drooled some more. And I coveted some more.

When I couldn't take a single second longer I broke down and batted my eyelashes at the waiter until he very sweetly brought me my very own TINY LEMON MERINGUE!!

I'm not sure what's going on here except we're inappropriate and you can't take us anywhere.

I totally missed the fact that they had a hat stand so you could wear a silly hat at high tea.

NEXT TIME FOR SURE!!

That's the funny faux book shelf which is actually just the back wall of the elevator.

Rich people are weird.

Kay and Richard Burton share a moment on the way to...

The Spa where Kay had her first ever massage

So that's my birthday and Kay's birthday done, in which we also managed to squeeze in our first First of the year to go with my New Years resolution. High Tea definitely calls for a second and a third, hopefully soon before I start licking the walls because they are scone coloured and I'm getting that desperate.

Someday soon I'll get around to the boys bday post except I'm off to the in laws for the last of the birthday celebrations this afternoon. Probably not sober. So far Dry January has been a surprising successs, Kay and my birthday's excepted of course. I really want to drop a few extra pounds plus we've been drinking like assholes for forever now so I just wanted to confirm that it's just cuz we're douchebags, not because we're addicted douchebags. Ha. So the not drinking has been problem-free. The weight loss, not so much. Might have SOMETHING to do with the 4 birthday cakes and celebration dinners and lunches in the past 2 weeks though. Ha.

Grrr, the boys are getting all bejiggety about hitting the road so remind me to tell you later how we got Twisty G his first skateboard for his birthday because we`re brain trusts like that. And how, seeing as it`s The Year of Firsts I figured I`d take lessons with him because what would be less SMRT than breaking every bone in my body trying to keep up with my 6 year old. So I found a skatepark that does family lessons, they also have a G.S.T. program.

Which stands for Geriatric Session Thursdays.

For anyone over twenty.

20!

Ha.

bitchez, pictures, special occasions, firsts
