Garden class

As some of you know, I'm in the process of going to school at PSU. Well this summer I'm taking my senior capstone class - all the PSU senior capstones involve working heavily with a community partner, part of which involves at least 15 hours of out-of-class volunteer time.

The class I'm in is working with the PSU Learning Garden Labs (LGL) in SE Portland. It's about a 12 acre facility on 60th, between Duke and Foster. So I get to play in the garden all summer, for credit! :D How fun is that. Especially for a class during the summer - much better than doing this in the rain during the spring or fall terms.

For the volunteer bit, our class broke up into 6 different project groups. The one I'm in involves going to the garden on Sundays at 6am, harvesting veggies and such and then bringing them to the Lent's International Farmer's Market and selling them from about 9-2. This should be interesting, possibly not as interesting as some of the other projects, but it certainly worked the best with my time schedule.

The first Sunday we'll be doing this is this upcoming one, the 29th. We won't be hitting every Sunday through August 10th, but will be doing several.

Here's where  you come in: We're welcome to bring friends/family with us to help volunteer. :D If anyone's interested in helping out at all (or even just stopping by the market for (im)moral support, that would be nifty. Let me know if you are at all and I can give you more specific addresses (or some google-fu will most certainly get you the same info).
