I got back from choir practice that March 3rd and was exhausted from having eaten nothing while going through a voice lesson, choir practice and a performance at Mass, a piano lesson, and a good 3 hours in the Practice Room trying to get another piano piece started.
So some friends and I at about 10 pm decided to see a dollar movie and it turned out to be a blessing I didn't eat. There was so much gore and blood in the movie I fainted and knocked out cold for a good 10 minutes. I woke up in my seat to see most of the movie, which included a scene where a man was kicked into a helicopter rotor.
The part of my birthday I enjoyed most was the time at Walmart walking around in the Collegium uniform, picking up Lindt chocolate to treat myself. The air felt different when I inhaled there. Before it was filled with the stresses that the vibration of an instrument caused, or the nervousness a bloody B-movie put my body through.
This time, there was just the faint aroma of chocolate and wide open aisles filled with all sorts of magical items. I felt young again, really, really young.
And I felt that it was good.
