All the networks are now saying Kerry has conceded and that Bush has retained the presidency. One thing to note, with the popular vote tally being presented on the screen, is that Bush has just recieved the highest amount of votes ever in American political history -- pushing ahead of the record Reagan set back in the 80's. Voter turnout was pretty sweet, I have to say. So often it's the Democrats who are best with the "Get out the vote" campaigns on the local level.
Speaking of close-to-home politics, the voting map by county is very telling. Only in a choice few metropolitan areas are blue patches, signifying Kerry counties. All the rest of are secured by Bush, and what's very interesting is that the county results from the 2000 election have almost the exact same layout -- of course, with blue representative of Gore counties.
