A very important Thanksgiving proclamation. And possibly a new action-adventure series.

I am happy today.

Leanne e-mailed us from Sprinkles, asking us all to choose flavors. I got pumpkin, which kicks their glorious red velvet to the curb, as far as I'm concerned.

Their pumpkin cupcakes should come with a warning from the Surgeon General. Ridiculously tasty pumpkin cake, and the cinnamon buttercream frosting is made of fairydust and sprinkled with powdered unicorn horn and high-grade ecstasy, I think.

Also, instead of their trademark candy discs denoting flavors, today's cupcakes have little turkey silhouettes on top. Aw.

This is the first holiday season I will have Paid Time Off, ever, in my entire working life. I have never been salaried before, and for several years there I was working at places which, by their very nature, had to stay open on the holidays. Other years, in other places, I was hourly, had the day or half-day off, and just didn't get paid for it.

But I have Thanksgiving off, and the day after. And I didn't have to beg for it, or switch shifts with somebody and then feel guilty that they are working when I am not. We actually have five-day weekends around Christmas and New Year's as well. The office just closes for the holidays, and then we all get paid anyway. Brilliant. (I realize that this is the norm for many of you, but it's a new and exciting thing for me.)

I'll be spending the next few days at my dad's up in Turlock, and I'm never sure of his internet situation, so I'm going to go ahead and post this now, just in case.

TOBY
Listen. I don't know what you're doing for dinner tonight, but Josh and Sam and I...

CJ
It's about damn time you asked me! I have been sitting here for two weeks turning down
all kinds of very, frankly, glamorous invitations from people I like more than you. You
can't ask a girl at the last minute...

TOBY
Well, if you can't come...

CJ
No. I can come. I can come. I can come.

TOBY
Good.

CJ
Should I bring anything?

TOBY
Yeah. Do you know how to, you know, cook food?

.....

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful that I have a steady job and a stable place to sleep at night, things I didn't always have over the past year or so. I am thankful that I live where I live, I am thankful that I was raised the way I was raised, and most of all, I am thankful for all of my lovely friends.
