various things

This past weekend I saw Run Fat Boy Run. It was enjoyable. It was basically a romantic comedy, and lacked Edgar Wright and Nick Frost, but I love Simon Pegg regardless, and there were funny bits, and Hank Azaria, and Hank Azaria's bits (almost), so I'm not going to complain.

I got my shiny new hardcover of The Last Unicorn, ordered directly from Conlan Press. Peter S. Beagle signed it, rather adorably, with a Firefly misquote. When we met at the WonderCon before last, I'd purchased a sparkly reissued DVD of The Last Unicorn and he signed every inch of it (including the DVD itself) and added 'To a fellow Firefly fan.' He also extolled the virtues of one Gina Torres to pretty much everyone within earshot. I liked him very much.

At Olson, part of my job is to screen potential candidates for various research studies. These screeners contain various parameters which much be filled, otherwise the client will not accept them for the study.

This leads to exchanges like the one I just had with Ethan, wherein he informed me over the phone: '...so if they're from Vermont, Maine, Minnesota or DC - TERMINATE THEM.'

It seriously does say TERMINATE on the screeners.

But it makes me feel like a hitman or a robot assassin when we say it out loud.
