birthday

Our birthday was a lot of fun!

I spent the day in my pajamas, writing and watching Children Of Dune and eating toast, which I thought was just fine.

A little before six Cash and I headed over to Little India with Corey and their friends Nick and Kassahn. Adam and Karla and Melissa showed up, and then a few more of Cash's friends, and oh man, there ended up being so many people. Thirty, I think? Many more? Definitely the biggest birthday party I've had. It seemed like people had fun though. (Some of his friends even spoke to some of mine!) My sister Lisa came, with Josh and Raina, so my friends got to meet my beautiful niece finally. (She's getting so big. I gave her a purple cat-ear hat and an old copy of The Little Prince, and Lisa the skull necklace I got her in La Candelaria, Mexico.)

Much tikka masala was had, and samosas, and a few people there hadn't had Indian food, so that was exciting. I didn't even eat as much as I usually do there because I was flitting around trying to talk to everybody. However, I did make time for mango pudding.

Afterwards I went with Cash and his friends to the Great Entertainer to play pool. I played horribly, as per usual, but had a good time anyway. Then it was back home, where I drank a glass of my gift from Johnny, played a few games of Guitar Hero and went to blissful electrically-blanketed sleep.

I shall now list the presents, as that is what it seems people do and we got awesome presents:

--The new Help! DVD from Adam (awesome!)
--6 months of Netflix from Karla (practical and awesome!)
--The Heroes comic from Francis (cover by Alex Ross and awesome!)
--A steampunky headband from Melissa (pretty and pinstriped and awesome!)
--bottle of Puccino coffee liquor from Johnny (tasty and awesome!)
--Restoration and Only You from Arielle ('I don't know,' I said, 'Get me a Robert Downey Jr. movie.' 'Any Robert Downey Jr. movie?' she replied, informing me that she would seek out the worst RDJ film she could find. A cheesy romantic comedy was chosen, and then Gail convinced her to get a good film as well. Funny, thoughtful and awesome!)
--A Best Buy gift certificate from Gail that resembles a small cassette tape and has scrolling electronic messages (futuristic and awesome!)
--Cookie-makings-in-a-jar from Elizabeth (I love baking cookies! and I like jars! awesome!)
--Sparkly bracelets and a pretty blue-with-silver-wire pendant from Lisa (shiny and awesome!)

Cash's presents that I'm aware of:

--A Mervyn's gift card from Francis ('Yes! SOCKS!' he exclaimed in all seriousness. Awesome!)
--The Dangerous Book For Boys from Adam (mischievous and awesome!)
--300 from Karla (ohmigod I am so glad we have that movie now awesome!)
--A bottle of Mister Clean from Panda (some sort of inside joke okay awesome!)

Also, Manoj gave us a gift card for a free dinner. ♥

They are so nice there, honestly. He said their longtime customers are what keep them in business, which I thought was sweet because even though it's my favorite restaurant I only make it there about once a month if I'm lucky. I'm not a very frequent customer. I suppose, though, after eight years I can be considered constant.

(My present from Cash was delayed in the mail so I don't know what it is yet. He really loves his Heroes helix necklace though. And it looks superhot on him.)

.....

I'm getting the place cleaned up and things in order for a fresh start.

It's going to be a fairly low-key New Year's Eve, and I'm looking forward to it.
