Ohmigod, there is lint everywhere. Cash has these black socks that never stop emitting lint, and the snuggly new electric blanket is all new and linty, and there's just lint in places. I keep thinking I see bugs, and it's just lint. Attack Of The Killer Lint Monsters.
How tickled am I that
KitchenAid mixers come in apple green? Someday, I will have one of those. Mark my words. And a kitchen with an island in the middle, in black granite, and the whole place done up in retro green and silver. O, the things I will cook in that dream kitchen. The pantry I'll have. The films we'll watch in the den adjacent that will be decorated like a starship war room with a low table that lights from underneath and good grown-up glass shelves laden with the spoils of my geeky adventures. A big world map on the wall. And the library in the attic, with maybe window seats in the gables? A bedroom with nothing in it but a bed and a table and lamp, a quiet place not full of storage boxes and electronics. Shelves that match, or mismatch well. A wraparound porch, a widow's walk, space for a Christmas tree, a Chinese screen, a big comfy chair, and photographs of all my friends, and everything framed. Well, now I've gotten started.
I just finished another Ray Bradbury book. Dandelion Wine. I love reading Bradbury. He says everything so perfectly that you can see and taste and smell it, and every word is exactly where it should be, you know? He makes writing seem easy just because, well, of course that sentence says that, of course the entire room is described in those eight words, how else would you say it? That's why he's a genius. To the best of my knowledge, I never spent a boyhood in the first half of the century in Illinois, but damned if I don't feel nostalgic for one after all these books.
Oh, and hey: I feel a Robert Downey Jr. kick coming on. I like him whenever I see him, but I've never gone out of my way to see a film he's in, and he's a fox in that wicked awesome Iron Man trailer and I just watched Restoration and I feel the need to see him in more things. But he's been in so many things. What would you consider, fellow fangirls and film geeks, to be essential Robert Downey Jr. viewing? Great movies? Movies that suck but he's awesome in them?
Going down the old Netflix list, I've only seen:
Restoration
In Dreams
A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints
Good Night And Good Luck
A Scanner Darkly
Wonder Boys
