news on the hobble

it's cold, but i have puffy socks.

it's been a week since holy gods i fell through a damn ceiling! the thing happened and i'm doing pretty well.

i can use my right hand as long as i don't put any weight on it or push up on my shoulder, so still no typing or carrying both food and drink upstairs at once, but i can zip my own hoodie now, things like that. hydrocodone and icy hot are doing the trick; i really only have bad pain in the mornings.

i decorated my sling with buttons.

still working on some tedious paperwork which should be handled this week. tim says i can come back to work if i'm bored and just read a book and wait for deliveries at the burlingame location. i might.

cash and i were having a bad time of it for a few days -- stress and not being ourselves -- but we talked it out and made things better, even made up in the park after a somewhat dramatic outburst just like they do in the movies. and then we watched chuck and heroes and v for vendetta and ate chips and chili and had a lovely evening.

arielle insisted i not sit around moping on saturday and took me to the vampire ball in alameda. at short notice, i wore this red velvet bias-cut dress i've had since high school, and my new jack skellington headband. it all went quite well with my fashionably black sling, and in fact i got asked to dance a few times by people who thought it was part of a costume. i did dance a waltz with thad -- we did open waltz the whole time so my right arm wasn't needed -- and a schottische with arielle and her friend. the rest of the time i sat around talking to people, costume-watching and eating yummy meatballs from the buffet. somebody had a great frida costume, and one girl had a ball gown made of shiny black latex, bustle and all. it was fun and i'm glad i went, especially as i missed everything else that went on that day.

i've been awake for a few hours now and i think it would help my cause to have some breakfast.

dance
