Occasionally, working for a place that publishes a computer mag can result in the urge to do something that might be foolish. Recently CC had an article on social networking and I thought I's sign up on Twitter just to see what it's like. Not at all convinced yet. Friends deciding to follow you is one thing, also being followed by organisations that you've decided to follow is ok, but I'm not sure about the random people who decide to follow you. Mostly, they go away when they realise that you're not going to say anything of interest to them, but in the meantime it feels a bit creepy. I want to ask then who they are and why the hell they're following me! :) Of course, I can go to their bio, which may answer the first question, but not the second one.
On the plus side, it can be quite interesting to follow some public people - like a very abbreviated blog - and to find out what your friends may be doing. Of course, I doubt that I'm likely to twitter much myself - mostly work isn't that interesting and when it is, I usually can't talk about it. And judging by my record of posts here...
