Everything is ok in Manchester

I have been encouraged by my mother to let you all know that I am ok. As you've all heard, there were bombings in London on Thursday morning. These incidents were isolated to the center of the city and no more took place any where else, including Manchester. For those who were curious, Manchester is a four hour drive from London, so I am pretty far away from what happened. It was frightening to learn that the bus that exploded was right near the hotel Luther always uses for it's J-term trips and near where I just stayed when I was in London.

It was all pretty scary on Thursday. At first, no one knew how many more attacks there could be and if there would be attacks on other big cities like Birmingham and Manchester, but there were not. Life has pretty much stayed on course here in the north and London is recovering. The English are resilient! 20 years ago they were dealing with the IRA, 60 years ago it was WWII, 150 years ago it was the French, and the list could go on and on. Not to say that attacks like this are ordinary or acceptable, but the English have a strength and a stability for dealing with this kind of thing. As in 9/11, the people of London have reached the horrible stage of the ordeal, recovering the remaining bodies from the tunnels. Right now they are still investigating the damage sustained by the blasts in the tube tunnels. The tunnels aren't safe yet for rescue crews to recover the bodies. This is the horrible part. I watched the news this morning and there are some 30-40 families still missing loved ones. There are also a few unidentified patients at one of the London hospitals. It is all very sad.
