Good kitties
One of my students gave me a gorgeous upholstered chair that doesn't fit into her new decoration scheme. Although I was afraid that the cats would destroy it, I accepted it. The first time a cat put a claw up to the side, I yelled loudly. Then I brought out a brand new scratching pad, covered it with catnip, and put it near the chair. In the last 24 hours, the cats have enjoyed the new scratching pad.
The cats have slept on the chair, but neither one has put a claw on the side.
