We drove over to the dump this morning to pick up a bin full of free compost from the city (composted from last year's leaf collection). I left Alexander in the car while I shoveled the compost and put the bin in the truck.
When I got back into the car he asked me, "What'd you do, Mom?"
"I got us some dirt," I replied.
A wide smile broke out on his little face and he exclaimed with enthusiastic delight, "Dirt! I like dirt, Mommy!"
You gotta love the two-year-old exuberance about dirt.
(In other news, my garden is now all composted-in for the winter. I have a few bulbs left to plant, which I'm going to do as soon as I save this entry. Then I need to look at the forecast. It's beautiful today. Do I break my own rule and put the Christmas lights up this afternoon? Or do I wait until Friday -- after American Thanksgiving?)
