Tar Baby!

So the asker of Yahoo Answers Question I posted the link to on Thursday has now gone and reported me for abuse of the community guidelines citing "Solicitation" as the reason! Naturally I have appealed, but for the time being my answer has been removed.

I really can't believe this!

It's worthy of you to try to honestly engage these people, but the phrase "Pearls before swine" comes to mind. Not so much bread upon the waters! Obviously serious discourse is not the object of the exercise. I'm sorry your answer got removed; it was excellent.

Thanks.

Kol thinks I should just stop going to Y!A; that there are better things I could be doing with my time. I'm sure he's right, but up until now I have mostly enjoyed Y!A. It's given me a certain measure of intellectual outlet that I don't get in my job or many other places in my life for that matter. I enjoy being able to talk about and share my experience: both things that I've read and experience I've had myself. I will miss it if I leave completely.

Well, I guess running into idiots is a possibility anywhere. If the excersise is good on the whole, keep it up and just pity the fool.

How on earth could that be considered 'solicitation'?
Is there anything I could do to help?

I don't know. I've already filled out the appeal form, but I have no idea how long that will take.

I'm not sure if you could find the right contact to write to and also appeal on my behalf. Of course, I'm also a little scared that that won't help any.

The asker is an idiot. What was their user name so I will know in future to not answer any of their future questions?

"Agrafa"

BTW, could you give me link to one of your answers? Thanks.

I got your email. I was going to add you as a contact, but you apparently have your settings set so I can't.

I admit that I didn't read your response in a detailed way...but what on earth is he claiming 'solicitation" of???? I'm completely mystified....

He's apparently as ignorant of what the word "solicitation" means as the word "university".

Does Yahoo Answers prohibit soliciting people to vote for your answer, or link to it, or something? That would make a certain amount of sense if they are trying to have answers rated on merit rather than popularity (of course yours has both)...

According to the Y!A FAQ they consider solicitation posting questions or answers like "Wanna chat?" or repeated posting your website in answers whether it is relevant or not.
