While doing my research for the posts on the traditions of the days following Christmas, I came across the following article:

I used to listen to "The Goon Show" on radio in Hong Kong back in the '60s and '70s (they relayed a lot of BBC shows back then) and was familiar with Harry Secombe's name from that. I didn't know about his musical side, had never heard his "Song of Joy", and, like you, can't find the lyrics online. I'd be curious to read them if you ever find them (or if fpb can provide them somehow).

I pretty much agree with what you said about John Lennon's "Imagine." It sounds beautiful if you don't think too much about what it is actually saying, but when you do, it's awfully negative. Coincidentally, just the other day Karen was commenting of the incongruity of juxtaposing, on a Nana Mouskouri record we have, the lovely, hopeful, Christian hymn, "Morning has Broken", with "Imagine" and its line about "no religion."
