Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" is on the radio right now. I've had a mixed "relationship" with this song over the years, from hating it to loving it and a lot of ambiguity in between. I remember being in Italy and Davide and Roberto singing the chorus to me. It annoyed me then because although I am an American, I was not actually born in the USA.
Today, in light of recent discussions I find myself contemplating how being an American is different today than it was 20 years ago.
