I'm getting a tattoo pretty much as soon as I can, though probably at this point it'll be after M and I get back from Omaha. It will be on the front of my thigh, and it
will look like this:
I was doing some random web-search a couple of weeks ago and stumbled across
http://www.futhark.com. This tweaked some old memories for me, and I dug in, not originally with the purpose of coming up with a tattoo design. But then M and I had some friends of hers over for dinner, one of whom is a pagan tattoo-artist, and the conversation obviously turned to tattoos.
I had originally planned my first tattoo to be an image based on a statement that I had read a while back that went something like "the little wheel spins around in the big wheel"[0], made in reference to the dual-cyclic nature of the software cycle (and is obviously applicable to the dual-cyclic nature of everything else in life, too). But I have sort-of abandoned this as impractical -- I can't come up with a reasonable, understandable image that illustrates this oh-so-abstract concept.[1]
I eventually came up with an aegishjalmur-based design with some personal bindrunes at the ends of the staves. The specific nature of each of the bindrunes is fairly personal (except the north bindrune, which just represents me by incorporating my initials[2]).
I like it. It may be red.
[0] Which is obviously linked to Ezekiel's wheels, but I can totally get past that.
[1] If anyone wants to help, I wouldn't be averse to it. :)
[2] I didn't phoneticize my first initial because I use 'p', not 'ph', as identification.
