I have written other Clara theories. I started out thinking she was the Doctor's granddaughter. I also had lots of thoughts on whether she was a [Gallifreyan] egg or a bird or something. Having said that, Clara/Eleven now makes complete sense.
(Of course she could still have that, even if she was fobwatched. There could be a choice between staying Clara & becoming the Doctor again, and she would probably choose to stay Clara:
