BBC making fanvids...

I love it when this happens. This is Foxes singing 'Don't Stop Me Now' from Mummy On The Orient Express, but rather than have it as a straight performance they've turned it into a vid. And because they're the BBC, there's even snippets of future episodes:

Lovely. Thanks for pointing this out!

Embarrassingly out of the loop alert: I didn't know the song, and had to look up the lyrics. Having had to do that though, if you wanted to pick a song to illustrate the out-of-control nature of the Doctor's and Clara's adventures, with a Missy/woman-in-the-shop-shaped sting in the tail at the end, this is pretty close to perfect:

I'm gonna go go go
There's no stopping me
...
I'm a rocket ship on my way to Mars
On a collision course
I am a satellite I'm out of control
...
Don't stop me now
I'm having such a good time
I'm having a ball
Don't stop me now
If you wanna have a good time
Just give me a call

It's the strangest things that can make you notice your own cultural bubble - it never occurred to me that there were people who didn't know Don't Stop Me Now to the point of being probably knowing most of the lyrics by heart...

Personally, then I always associate it with the Master, thanks to this vid by charmax:

ETA: Meant to say that it then ties in with Missy even more. ;)

Well, I admit I did live in a kind of bubble myself, not having access to Western music back in GDR times, but also back then not having been much interested in English music, I preferred German songs where I actually could understand the lyrics - while others were and knew how to get it, we did dance to Michael Jackson or Madonna at the school disco.

So again I can blame this one on John Barrowman ;) He sang it once in "Tonight's the Night". It's possible I have heard it before, don't remember, but I love it ever since seeing this:

(he introduces me to so many great songs and then I go and educate myself about where they come from)

I do finally understand though why one friend back in the early Nineties was such a huge Queen fan. So many great songs!

I grew up with Madonna and Michael Jackson too!! Although I understand wanting to understand the lyrics. :)

Not a bad way to be! Heck, I read Dante because of Doctor Who...

They're my eldest daughter's favourite band.
