So, in... March, I think, we went to see Frozen. (We waited until it was on on a Saturday morning & cheap!) Afterwards Darcy said how he liked it very much, although it could have done to be a little longer & for Elsa to be fleshed out some more.
The Student Academy Awards (which took place last night) were presented by the writer, director & producer of Frozen. At the after party Darcy had a nice long chat with the producer (and director) about the difficulties of juggling a complex narrative & several main characters.
So yeah, life is crazy. (They won bronze in their category.)
(He also got them to sign a DVD for the girls, so they will probably collapse in flaily squee even more than they already have once they see it. In case I never mentioned it, they ADORE Frozen... It's Impish Girl's birthday a week on Thursday and one of her wishes is an Anna cosplay outfit. (She's not getting it, those things cost a FORTUNE! /o\) But she taught herself how to play 'Let It Go' on the piano from youtube tutorials - that song has been a constant in our house for months and months.)
He also spoke to Damian London (one of the founders of the Student Academy Awards), who played Virini on Babylon 5. Not sure if he got his signature also, but they had a lovely chat.
Overall, he said it was very glitzy & Hollywood and exactly how it is in the movies. Although underneath all the madness are just people who make movies. Which provides some sort of bridge I suppose, since our life is neither glitzy, nor Hollywood... (Nor would I want it to be.)
And that's all for now, my parents are visiting and I need to go be a good daughter, rather than anti-social LJ-er. :)
ETA: So - follow your dreams, reach for the stars or whatever other metaphor you like. Sometimes it works out! (Although it doesn't make you rich. *g*)
