(((hug))) You don't have to let him go... Yes, the Doctor changes and carries on, but if someone is especially dear - well, so be it. Oh it could be worse. *is still scarred from CoE*
11 will continue in the comics - you've probably seen it but just in case, trailer for the comics: Not really that bothered. I want his FACE.
I see it more as a shock therapy to revive the dying patient, i.e. the practically dead show. To bring it back into public conscience the Doctor needed to be pushed to the extreme, to be made vulnerable and relatable. Time War, guilt and loneliness and the acute need for human company and love did the job, the patient was revived, and then it was time to re-imagine it and bring it back to normal. Oh absolutely. But he had to break him.
Very interesting to see what they will do with 12, and if he would indeed feel more like in oldschool. That is the idea. Eleven was more Oldskool than Ten by miles, and by removing all the guilt, Twelve can now go back to who he was.
Yes! For example, I now get the reference in 11th hour, with 11 getting his clothes from the hospital. Same thing happened with 3rd and 8th, and there's something about it, being on their own and recreating themselves from scratch, that tugs at my heart. Oh god, 11th Hour... He's SUCH A BABY. ♥ (And yes, all the references!)
